About Us

Our Story

IKUSASELIHLE is an Non – Profit Organisation that was established in 2016 with a vision of inspiring learners from previously disadvantage communities to pursue professional careers. Organisation has been able to provide career guidance to learners from various high schools in Kwa-Zulu Natal and has now extended its services to Mpumalanga and Limpopo. The passion and the desire to get involved in supporting learners with career choices was brought by the challenges that founders had to overcome as they all come from previously disadvantage communities. .

My Success Story

My Name is Nodumo Msimango I'm 25 years born and Raised in Nongoma. I Passed my matric in 2015 and I had no clue on what to do next. My school had not not helped us in choosing careers. So I stayed at home for three full years doing nothing. One day my mother was watching TV and she saw Miss Londiwe Myeza on 1KZN TV doing the interview about IKUSASELIHLE. At the end of her interview she shared her numbers and mom took her numbers. I texted her on WhatsApp and she gave me Snikeziwe Myeza's contact details who is one of IKUSASELIHLE mentors and that's when my Journey with IKUSASELIHLE began. I spoke to her and requested that she helps me with tertiary application. I told her I've been trying to apply but to no luck. She helped me enrol at UNISA to pursue a diploma in Public relations and I graduated this year on 7 June 2023. IKUSASELIHLE has helped me a lot, being a graduate that I am today is because of Ikusaselihle. The organisation has helped me to pursue my dream. Currently working for a local school as an Educator Assistant and I am still searching for a Job in Communications or PR field. I am also volunteering in Ikusaselihle as an Admin Assistant. I have also linked my Cousin Anele Mbuyazi with IKUSASELIHLE and they have helped him as he is pursue his studies with the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. I also linked my friend Balungile Cebekhulu who is pursuing Engineering. I'm grateful for being part of Ikusaselihle family Thank you Nodumo Nokukhanya Msimango

Changing Lives

I first came to know of Ikusaselihle NPO in 2018, and I was immediately taken and joined. I have always volunteered for programs to do with youth, so when this opportunity came, I knew I would be a right fit. I Completed My Studies

Ikusaselihle had a great impact in my life, I met a lot of different people with different success stories that sure encourage me that in this world nothing is impossible, no matter how hard life is or where you come from it doesn't matter, so I had to work towards achieving my goal which was to be an engineer, and in high school maths was never my favourite subject, but luckily with the help of the experts from ikusaselihle I was able to complete my engineering studies at Mangosuthu university of Technology .

In 2021 I completed my studies than I had to look for a job, I worked in a consulting company for almost a year than I lost my job due to the company not receiving enough profit. I had to stay at home for almost a year, and during those times of being jobless I lost a home due to floods, with no support system on top, life started to get real, I had no capital, no job and no home. That's when I started working at a call centre, life really humbled me and I always asked myself, "if God is this the life that you want me to live?" , But I never gave up , i kept on trying till I got a SAPS application. My application was successfully and was welcomed to come and train, currently I'm still in Kimberley, northern cape doing my training, in a few weeks time I will be declared competent to serve my community.

I obtained 7 distinctions

My name is Lindokuhle Khwashube. I am 24 years old. I am from Umlazi Township in Durban (KZN). I studied at Menzi High School (Umlazi N-Section), one of the top-performing schools in quartile 3, competing with schools from quartile 1 from all over South Africa. I was privileged to have become one of the top students in my Township in matric 2017 since I obtained 7 distinctions. I am a Maths and Physical Science tutor due to my high performance (in Menzi High and Online). I continued with my higher education at the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN) where I did my BSc. (Hons) in Chemical Engineering. I finished in 2022. I am currently working in the Northern Cape, Sedibeng Iron Ore Mine. I am working as a metallurgist under a company called Minopex. I work in a Dense Medium Separation (DMS) plant. While I was doing Grade 11 (2016), SAPPREF came to my school and donated a science laboratory. They came with East Coast Radio; it was live at my school. I was lucky to be called to do a 60-second live quiz and I won R10 000. That is basically how I met Miss Londiwe Myeza when she was working with SAPREF. I then got a chance to get a SPREF bursary which paid for my fees at university.

Miss Londiwe Myeza introduced me to this beautiful NPO called Ikusaselihle. I was so excited about joining the family (2018)! We were able to travel to schools around KZN (urban township schools and rural area schools) for career guidance, motivation, and inspiration. It is so refreshing to spend my time helping young scientists, doctors, teachers, etc., to peruse their dreams. We were even helping them to apply for bursaries and universities/colleges. The COVID-19 pandemic caused chaos and we were unable to visit schools in person. God gave us direction, then we started broadcasting live Facebook career guidance. Now, we haven’t reached one school at a time, but we reached thousands of learners around the whole of South Africa! Since I am in the Northern Cape, I still help online during live screaming. Ikusaselihle provides career guidance, motivation, and inspiration. You can be part of it too and help it grow! Your donation will help to increase the organization and reach more students around KZN, even the whole of South Africa.
